What is WPTK?

Pathways for PTK Women (WPTK) is a peer network for mid-career professional track faculty members who identify as women and/or gender non-binary and who have been at UMD for 5-10 years. 

The goals of the program are to:

  • Build faculty networks and communities of support
  • Identify career pathways and leadership opportunities
  • Identify concrete next steps for career development

How WPTK Works

  • The professional community will meet 3 to 4 times each semester, in person.
  • We ask that participants commit to attending at least 6/7 meetings to receive the full benefits of the program. 
  • Meeting Time: 12:00 - 2:00 pm (Lunch will be served)
  • Meeting Dates: Fall 2024: October 18, November 8, December 13; Spring 2025: February 7, March 7, April 4, May 2
  • Facilitators: Dr. Sylvette LaTouche-Howard and Dr. Dawn Culpepper

How to Apply

Applicants must complete a brief form and a statement of purpose by September 13, 2024. Applicants will be notified about their acceptance by September 20, 2024. Click here to Apply!

Pathways for PTK Women: Leadership and Professional Development at Mid-Career (WPTK) is a year-long peer network aimed at enabling professional growth for mid-career (5-10 years at UMD) PTK faculty who identify as women and/or gender non-binary. This program will meet 3-4x a semester, in-person, and will discuss issues of leadership, negotiation, and other topics related to career vitality.
