Sessions will focus on building leadership and professional skills, navigating common faculty challenges, and sharing strategies and experiences that can help faculty make informed decisions about their next steps.

  • Faculty Mentoring Matters

Results from the 2024 Belonging & Community Survey indicated that improving faculty mentoring for both PTK and TTK faculty is an area of opportunity for UMD. Join the ADVANCE Program for a practical workshop series designed for faculty and academic leaders interested in strengthening faculty mentoring. Through interactive discussions, evidence-based practices, and insights from guest speakers, participants will explore effective mentoring strategies, learn how to build strong mentoring relationships and teams, and discover approaches to developing mentoring policies and practices that support faculty success across departments, colleges, and campuses.

  • Office Hours & Aftercare: The ADVANCE Faculty Parenting Series

Climate survey results from UMD and social science research indicates that faculty experience barriers to attaining healthy work-life integration, particularly if they are parents. Office Hours & Aftercare: The ADVANCE Faculty Parenting Series is a new discussion series designed to support faculty navigating the intersection of academic careers and parenting. Through a mix of in-person and virtual sessions, participants will have opportunities to connect with colleagues, learn about campus resources and policies, and share experiences and strategies for navigating the demands of work and family.
