What is AFD?
Advancing Faculty Diversity (AFD) is a faculty peer network for faculty and postdocs from racially minoritized groups. The goals of the program are to strengthen faculty networks; dedicate time for scholarly connection and creativity; and identify pathways for career success.
How AFD Works
In AY2024-2025, AFD will include a welcome reception and two writing retreats. These events are co-hosted by the Anti-Black Racism Initiative and the BSOS Vision for Success Team.

- Fall Writing Retreat: Friday, December 6th, 2024
- Spring Writing Retreat: Friday, May 9th, 2025
ADVANCING Faculty Diversity (AFD) is a faculty peer network aimed at building communities of support for faculty members and postdoctoral fellows (all genders) from racially minoritized groups. AFD will host a welcome reception and 2 writing retreats (fall and spring). All events are open to AFD alums and new/returning faculty and postdocs of color.
