Elaine Eggleston Doherty

Behavioral and Community Health
School of Public Health
Elaine’s research is grounded in the intersection of life course criminology and public health and focuses on the patterns and interrelationships between drug use, crime, criminal legal system involvement, and health over the life course. Elaine received her PhD from UMD’s Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2005. Before joining the UMD School of Public Health faculty in 2021 as a PTK Research Professor, Elaine was a TTK Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. This is Elaine’s first year as an AP for the School of Public Health and she plans to draw on her TTK and PTK experiences to focus on mentoring faculty of all ranks and tracks.
