Faculty Search Committee Train-the-Trainer Course
Course Overview
Ensuring that UMD's search and selection processes are fair and welcoming is critical for recruiting an excellent workforce. To build the capacity of faculty and staff to contribute to these goals, ADVANCE and Belonging & Community offers the Faculty Search Committee Train-the-Trainer Course. The Course focuses on increasing participants’ knowledge and awareness of UMD policies and practice related to faculty search and selection; evidence-based best practices for recruiting and hiring top talent, and workshop facilitation skills. After completing the train-the-trainer course, participants will be prepared to facilitate faculty search committee workshops.
This course is designed for EEO partners, TerrapinStrong Partners, faculty, and/or staff involved in recruitment, evaluation, and/or administration. In addition, we hope that participants who complete this course may be well-suited for serving in campus leadership roles in the future.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1) Explain UMD policies and practices related to search and selection.
2) Identify evidence-based strategies for recruiting and hiring top talent from a variety of backgrounds.
