April 18: Retaining Our Faculty Workshop
This interactive workshop highlights key practices that can be used enhance climate, improve faculty development, and create cultures where faculty members thrive. Dean Kimberly Griffin (EDUC), Dean Susan Rivera (BSOS), and Dr. Autumn Reed (UMBC) will share insights and expertise.
March 30: Reimagining Faculty Hiring Workshop
This half day workshop will bring together expert researchers and academic leaders to discuss how search committees can use strategies effectively and the ongoing barriers to reimaging faculty hiring with equity in mind. Dr. Leslie Gonzales, Associate Professor of Higher Education at Michigan State University, will serve as the keynote speaker.
Jan.19, 20 Effective and Equitable Evaluation Workshops
The ADVANCE Program and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion offer workshops on Effective and Equitable Evaluation Workshop for faculty and staff involved in faculty review. Workshops will examine aspects of review policy and practice that can be enhanced to make review more effective and equitable, including discussion of how committees can fairly take into account the impact of COVID-19.
December 2 Advancing PTK Women in Leadership
This half-day event will focus on strategies that PTK women can use to advance in leadership roles at UMD and beyond and consider how academic leaders can, and should, support the advancement and professional success of PTK women leaders. The event will feature a panel discussion with women PTK leaders, a networking lunch, and a keynote discussion by Professor Colleen Worthington, long-time faculty member and leader on our campus and the inaugural ADVANCE Professor for PTK faculty.
December 1 Advancing Faculty Diversity (AFD) Keynote
The annual Advancing Faculty Diversity Keynote Address featuring Dr. Bridget Turner Kelly and Dr. Sharon Fries-Britt, who will be discussing their recently published book, Building Mentorship Networks to Support Black Women: A Guide to Succeeding in the Academy.
